The University of Sydney was founded in 1850, and its main campus is around Camperdown and Darlington. Arts and sciences, business, engineering and medicine each have their own faculty. Many undergraduate degrees are three years, and the Bachelor of Arts in particular is wide: students choose their own majors and minors, the freedom of course choice is high, and you must hold the main thread yourself.

The Business School's undergraduate degree is three years, with majors such as accounting, finance and management separate, and quantitative courses appearing from the early years. It is often compared with Melbourne commerce: Sydney is closer to entering the business school from the start, while Melbourne commerce also requires non-commerce breadth.
